The scene starts in a gloomy stone cell where Cersei, her hair cropped short, is stripped of her robes by stern septas. Then the great doors open and she steps out onto the cathedral steps completely naked, head held high, before a vast crowd. She walks barefoot down cobbled streets lined with jeering townsfolk who throw scraps and shout insults, while a septa rings a bell and chants behind her.
