Dyanne Thorne returns as the notorious Ilsa in “Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks” (1976), the second film in the cult exploitation series, directed by Don Edmonds. Ilsa now works for a ruthless Middle Eastern sheik, running his palace and supplying his harem with women abducted from around the world, while an American diplomat arrives to negotiate an oil deal. The cast includes Uschi Digard, Colleen Brennan and Tanya Boyd, who plays Satin, one of Ilsa’s loyal guards. This clip covers several palace scenes. Women stand nude in a lavish hall of red pillars and carpets as they are presented to the sheik, and there are intimate moments between the sheik and members of the harem. Later Ilsa and Satin, in khaki uniforms, inspect women held in hanging cages, and the story builds toward the guards’ role in keeping the palace under control. The tone is pure seventies grindhouse, with garish sets, campy dialogue and a plot about the women’s mistreatment. A key entry in a series that remains notorious among fans of exploitation cinema.
