Lea Bertin and Mathilde Cartoux get naked and wild in a cocaine-fueled orgy scene from Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story) (2016)

Lea Bertin and Mathilde Cartoux get naked and wild in a hedonistic party scene from the provocative French drama “Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story)” (2016), directed by Eva Husson. In a sprawling suburban house during a long, hot summer, a group of friends throw a series of increasingly reckless parties. The scene opens in a hazy living room, where couples are already tangled together on the sofas and the floor, clothes discarded everywhere. Lea and Mathilde join in, stripping off and kissing their partners as the music pulses and the air fills with smoke. One woman giggles as she films the action on her phone, while a curly haired man in a pink shirt stumbles through the crowd looking flushed and wide eyed. The camera drifts dreamily from one entangled couple to the next, catching flashes of bare skin, laughing faces and lamplit corners. In the final shots the whole group sprawls together across the living room, naked and exhausted, as the party reaches its peak. Hazy, sensual and unsettling, it captures the film’s portrait of desire without limits.
