Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote and Abbey Lee get fully nude together in a creepy bathtub and shower scene from “The Neon Demon” (2016), Nicolas Winding Refn’s dark tale of beauty and obsession. Bathed in eerie blue and violet light, the scene cuts between a bathtub and a steamy glass shower. In the tub, a woman lies back motionless in red streaked water, her face covered with a cracked dark mask, the white enamel smeared with blood. Meanwhile, behind the fogged up shower glass, two slim blonde models stand naked under the running water, their long legs and bare bodies outlined in silhouette as they wash. They turn slowly, rinsing their hair and running their hands over their skin, washing away the evidence of something terrible. The camera keeps returning to the masked figure in the bloody bath, still and silent. Dreamlike, disturbing and drop dead gorgeous, it’s one of the most striking moments in the film.
