Sydney Ray dances barefoot in a sensual, arty ballet scene from “Ballet of Blood” (2016), a surreal indie horror about a troubled ballerina. The scene cuts between two worlds. Outside, in a misty blue canyon at dusk, a slim nude figure leaps and spins across the rocky ground, her pale body glowing faintly against the dark cliffs as she moves through graceful, sweeping ballet moves. Inside, in a sunlit dance studio with a wooden barre and a fireplace, Sydney, with her long brown hair, rehearses in a black leotard, stretching her long legs, arching her back and twisting her body into dramatic poses. The camera tilts and spins with her as she kicks, bends and throws her arms out, her face fierce with concentration. Back in the canyon, the naked dancer twirls on, small against the towering rock. Dreamy, strange and beautifully choreographed, it shows off a lot of flexibility and skin.
