Natasha Alam as Yvetta in the Fangtasia Basement Scene from True Blood (2008-2014)

Natasha Alam plays Yvetta in “True Blood” (2008 to 2014), HBO’s vampire drama set in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Yvetta is a dancer at Fangtasia, the vampire bar run by Eric Northman, and in this scene she has been chained by the wrists in the bar’s basement on Eric’s orders. She stands nude and frightened under a harsh light while Eric, Pam and Sookie Stackhouse look on and decide what happens next, and the moment shows how small a say the humans around Eric have. The scene is short but shows the cold, ruthless side of Eric’s character and the dangerous power vampires hold over humans in the show’s world. It is staged as a tense, dark moment rather than anything sensual. The Fangtasia basement appears several times across the series as the place where Eric deals with those who cross him. For fans of the show, the clip is a reminder of Yvetta’s small but memorable role in the early seasons and of the uneasy balance between Eric and Sookie.
