Edwige Fenech strips down and shows everything in a steamy nude scene from “40 gradi all’ombra del lenzuolo” (1976), the Italian sex comedy anthology also known as Sex with a Smile. In this cheeky gothic segment, Edwige, with her lush dark curls and huge eyes, lies in a grand bed in a frilly pink nightgown while a fanged vampire in evening dress looms over her. Rather than screaming, she gives him a knowing smile. The candlelit castle bedroom glows blue as she slips out of the nightgown and stands before him, her famous figure bathed in moonlight, then reclines across the bed, writhing among the covers as he swoops in. There are dramatic close ups of his gleaming fangs and her wide, sultry eyes, all played with a wink. Short, campy and gorgeous, it is a fun showcase for one of the queens of seventies Italian cinema.
